Red teaming isn’t just a penetration test. A vulnerability scan can identify what is exposed, while a penetration test can demonstrate what can be exploited, but a red team engagement goes further by simulating how a real adversary could move through an environment, evade defenses, escalate privileges, and reach meaningful objectives. By using adversary simulation and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, organizations can understand not only where vulnerabilities exist, but also how effectively their defensive capabilities perform against realistic attack paths.
